This project report highlights the successful fabrication of modular shipping container structures, the first of its kind in West Pokot County, Kenya. 

Utilizing sustainable container fabrication technology, Premium Containers Limited established essential educational and administrative facilities tailored for the regional climate from a total of 22 shipping containers. 

Key focus areas were durability, advanced climate regulation, and high security, ensuring long-term use and setting a new standard for prefabricated construction in the region.

Robust Foundation & Structural Integrity in West Pokot

A robust, engineered foundation was crucial for all container units. 

This involved constructing reinforced concrete pillars for the bases, with concrete walls built between them to fully seal off the foundational space and prevent moisture and small animals. This elevated, sealed base provides maximum structural stability and longevity for the container units above.

The core educational infrastructure comprises large, multi-container spaces:

• Three Classrooms: Fabricated by joining three 40ft containers side-by-side, providing expansive, comfortable learning areas.
• Four Offices from single 40ft containers. 
• Three Laboratories: Similarly constructed from three 40ft containers joined side-by-side, designated for practical scientific education.

Premium Finishes for Container Interiors

A critical feature across all units is the focus on temperature regulation essential for the hot and dry West Pokot climate. 

Interior Walls & Ceiling: We utilized a two-part system: polystyrene sheets were installed first to act as a highly effective insulation materials and thermal regulators, followed by a professional finish of gypsum boards.

Modern, high quality electric wiring and fittings were installed throughout the entire complex to ensure immediate lighting and power supply.

Container Flooring: All floors received a durable and easy-to-maintain finish of square ceramic tiles. 

Doors & Windows: Security was integrated into the design with the installation of robust steel doors and aluminum sliding windows fitted with protective security grills.

Structure Roofing: Completed with steel tube rafting, box profile roofing sheets and guttered sides for water collection. 

Administrative Offices and Final Touches

Premium Containers also delivered useful administrative facilities; 

A Spacious Staff Office: Formed from two 40ft containers joined side-by-side.

The Executive Director’s Office

Received special attention, featuring modern interior finishes, electricals, and Air Conditioning (AC) for optimal working conditions. 

Two individual offices: Fabricated from single 40ft container units.

A Social Play Center: Designed from two 20ft container units joined together. 

The entire fabrication received a professional finish with high-quality spray paintwork applied both inside and outside, ensuring the units are visually appealing and protected from the elements. 

This approach successfully delivered adaptable, secure, and climate-conscious infrastructure, setting a new standard for rapid construction in the region.
