This coastal project in Diani, Kwale County is just one example of our expertise in creating stylish and functional living spaces from repurposed containers.
Here, two 40Ft high-cube containers were placed side-by-side creating a 16Ft central space.
The bedroom dimensions were expanded by 8Ft to create extra space for bedroom offices complete with desks and chairs.
See the floor plan below.
The Structural Foundation
The house is supported by concrete pillars and a partial concrete slab.
Both containers feature glass-partitioned bathrooms and enlarged bedrooms.
Why is this Container House Project Unique?
The kitchen
This is a U-shaped design with a modern electric/gas oven and cooker, a heavy-duty granite countertop, MDF cabinets and double sinks.
The sinks are served by a centralized swivel tap that drains either way.
Gas is supplied externally from a secure enclosure behind the kitchen.
Warm electric lights illuminate the interior, while bright white lights are used externally.
Carl & Gilberts electrical fittings are used throughout with provisions for both solar power and electric power systems.
The Living Room
We Fitted the living room with a modern TV section with spacious shelves and lockable cabinets.
The Bathrooms
With our expertise in constructing shipping container abolition blocks, we understood the assignment here.
These include executive taps, hand basins, wall mirrors, and 8mm thick glass partitions.
The floor and bathroom walls are covered in large, heavy-duty ceramic tiles, with water-resistant gypsum boards on the walls and ceiling.
The Wardrobe Units
In any bedroom and walk-in closets, wardrobe units provide storage spaces for clothes, shoes and other necessities.
Here, both bedrooms and the walk-in closet feature spacious, similarly designed wardrobe units.
The central space is floored with mazeras stones and features an aquarium.
A wall-to-wall glass partition with a glass door splits the central area into two sections.
The walls facing this space are wood-clad with white roughcast between the wood panels.
A hexene support structure with mesh wire was installed before roughcasting.
The central area has a transparent roof for natural light.
The Exterior
The exterior features various wood cladding patterns on each side.
A concrete wall forms part of the front section with a hardwood entrance door.
The Roof: Flat roofing with transparent sheets in the central area and slanted for the side sections.
Solar Power supply system installed on the roof.
Waste Management System (Biodigester)
The structure is connected to water supply, a well, and a biodigester waste management system.
