If you are abroad and want to build a house back in Kenya, Premium Containers are your go-to contractors. This modular container house belongs to a US-based Kenyan who visited just as the house was being completed.
In May 2025, after three months of dedication and hard work, we finally completed and handed over this spectacular container mansion in Tala, just 1 ½ hours East of Nairobi.
Welcome to “The Modular Manor” a spacious five-bedroom container home crafted from repurposed shipping containers, designed for modern Kenyan living.
This project features the following;
Exterior Structure
Foundation: Robust, reinforced concrete pillars with solid concrete walls in between the pillars to seal off the base.
Structure Dimensions: The entire structure measures 40 feet Long and 38 feet Wide.
Containers & Walls
We utilized eight 40-foot, high-cube containers: four for the ground floor and four for the first floor. This provided a structural width of 32 feet.
To achieve the final 38-foot width, an additional 6 feet was created using grooved black sheeting, container cuttings, and steel tubes.
Interior Structure
A Generous Living Room
Perfect for family gatherings and entertaining guests, the living room is complete with a contemporary TV setup as well as a convenient guest bathroom right next to it.
The L-Shaped Kitchen
The heart of the home, this section features a granite top counter, a well-lit hob and cooker, and MDF cabinets, ready for all your cooking adventures.
Pantry and Laundry
These are fitted with lockable doors and situated right next to the kitchen. The Pantry is fitted with MDF cabinets for storage of food and drinks.
The Five Ensuite Bedrooms
Each has cabinets and bathrooms, ensuring privacy and comfort for everyone. Two bedrooms are conveniently located on the ground floor, while three more offer elevated views on the first floor.
Stylish Staircase
This wood and steel stairway connects the ground floor to the first floor and is brilliantly lit with light and motion sensors for ease and safety.
